First Time Licensing Requirements and Qualifications (as of May 14, 2012)

Please contact the local assigning secretary prior to completing an online KHSAA application by completing the information below or calling Perry Wing at (859) 760-7466. KHSAA accepts late official applications and that may not be for the upcoming season, but the past year { July 1 to June 30th} and only counts towards the number of years licensed under KHSAA and you will be required to pay another annual fee.

Applicant must be a graduate of an accredited High School and be at least 18 years of age, unless participating in an approved mentor program approved by the commisioner.

Licensing fee MUST accompany application form. Fee will not be returned if applicant does not meet requirements has applied for the incorrect season. Applicant must receive a passing grade of at least 70% on the Part 1 NFHS Online Examination.

To become an official, you will need to fill out an application, KHSAA APPLICATION and pay the current and required registration fee, then take an open-book rules test after you are licensed and approved by KHSAA. Once you are registered, you will need to complete annual rules training that will introduce you to the latest rule changes and interpretations and become an active member of a local officials’ association. Active membership to NKSOA requires you attend 4 NFHS instructional clinics given locally prior to each season.

Local Organization – Northern Kentucky Soccer Officials Association

To join the local officials association (NKSOA), contact the President of NKSOA at president@nksoa.org The current annual dues for NKSOA new and returning members is set annually. Returning dues are one varsity center and first year officials are normally 1/2 of that amount.
